406 Compost is excited to celebrate its second National Recycle Day! The EPA estimated that in the United States in 2018, more food was sent to landfills than any other single material in our everyday trash*. Since starting in 2020, it’s been the goal of 406 Compost to divert this waste to a more fruitful end. By working with YES Compost of Belgrade, waste from 406 Compost customers has gone to feed YES’s worms to create organic fertilizer and vermiculite.
This Friday, November 19th, as part of the Good Samaritan e-waste collection, people can sign up for the bi-weekly collection and get their buckets the same day. We also deliver buckets throughout the week to new customers, provide weekly service for businesses, and yard waste collection options.
